hi,
you have to install the fglrx drivetrs, try to take the newest from
www.ati.com.
The problem is well known, I know how to fix it in xorg-x11, but maybe
not on xfree86.
If you have a running x-windows-system, then it'll be possible to help
you.
Try to reinstall you'r x-windows-system, if it's broken.
Try to find out which version of xfree you have, the log file should
help you /var/log/XFree86.0.log
