I'm a french guy !
First, don't touch
neither the MBR of /dev/hda nor the windows boot sector from /dev/hda1.
Put grub or lilo on your linux partition.
I post the same question in a precedent message 10 days ago.
You must(?) remain the thinkpad boot on mbr for the IBM restore choice.
So you can't modify the MBR.
You must(?) remain windows and it's boot loader.
You can add en entry in the windows boot.ini program,
cf the previous thread with tittle : windows linux and ibm-rescue.
You can put the linux boot in default choice.
I hope you have done the 7 system CD,
I make a new install tree time at least.
When you reinstall window from a scratch disk,
1/ you boot on the IBM -cd,
2/ you let the IBM-rescue-cd program copy the windows-cd
3/ you boot on an linux-cd to make a windows partition
9 GB on my maptop, 7 is too little,
and after other(s) linux partition
4/ you must boot from the HD the CD is outside,
because the boot from the CD can't reinstall only one windows partition
but only the all HD.
I hope it'will work !
Have a good day.
François
I install a debian on a thinkpad and my spam filter don't work,
I read this list, but I'm not sure to read a private mail.
