actually it might be a gentoo specific thing as i found after more
intense googling. Still i don't know what exactly is my problem since
there are reports that it should work with pci=3Dnoacpi or noapic kernel
parameters. However, the only thing that works for me is acpi=3Doff and
this is not what i want. Gentoo live cd gets it working, but i think it
uses a 2.4 kernel instead of 2.6 and i'd also like to stick with 2.6.
So, are there experiences?

Also more info on this...the fan (or something else) makes a steady high
pitch noise (not very loud, but realisable when close to it with the
ear) and after about half an hour the fan starts making periodic noises
as if it would run irregularly or something (also low volume but
recognisable).
Experiences appreciated as well for i'm thinking about returning the
machine.
