That truly sucks. I haven't been following the thread as to why that
mandrake requires the=20
floppy drive? Couldn't MDK have included the drivers on installs?
Anyways the good news, is that the laptop still has about 3 weeks of
warranty left on it, I=20
called IBM and they are sending me a new/replacement drive to me over =
night.
So knock on wood=20
that it's a issue with the drive.
Any comment on running Fedora Core 3

To install Mandrake 10.1 from DVD or CD you MUST have coppied the =
additional
device drivers to a floppy and have that floppy in the floppy drive.=20
If you do not have a floppy drive then it probably would be best to =
choose=20
some other method of installation.
If you downloaded Mandrake 10.1 I have no idea where you get the =
auxiliary=20
device drivers off the CD or DVD.
There was considerable discussion on this on this BB archives =
approximately
1=20
or 2 months back with the final posting being mine describing in detail =
how
I=20
accomplished this. I would repost except I might miss a few details not=20
having my notes with me.
Frank
PS: SuSE 9.2 installation is much easer than Mandrake 10.1.
