[ltp] FC3 Problem with USB 2 (ehci_hcd) on T40

I have a T40 running Fedora Core 3 and USB2 have stopped working
for me since some time back. Am attaching the error messages that
I see in the syslog both for kernel 2.6.9 and 2.6.10.

Things that I've tried but with no result:

* turning off acpi - the kernel that I'm running was compiled without
   acpi

* reassigning the IRQ's in the BIOS - as I understand it, interrupt
   "H" is mapped to the ehci controller. I have tried various values,
   but with no effect.

* running the standard Fedora Core 3 kernel, i.e. kernel-2.6.9-1.667
   -> no change

* running Knoppix - since this is an entirely different dist, running
   from a CDROM, it should neutralize any weird issues in my OS install.
   However, it reacted with the same error messages.

* unloading the ehci module - works fine, i.e. if ehci is unloaded my
   USB2 compliant external harddisk and camera start to use uhci
   without any problems at all.

* unloading the uhci module - problems with ehci persists

* have tried using two different USB2 devices to eliminate any device
   specific problems - same result however

Anyone have a clue of what is going on here? Suggestions for further
things to check?

I guess it's possibility that my ehci controller is broken, but am
hoping it's not the case.

Any ideas for how to proceed would be most appreciated,
