Erm, it should either say "No such device", or it should do nothing, or it=

Well, basically the driver needs to find the card, and the devices should b=
e=20
accessible then.
I suppose you're card is muted or to silent. Please ensure that Master volu=
me=20
and PCM are not muted and volume is turend up. Then you could test the soun=
d=20
pretty easy via dd if=3D/dev/urandom of=3D/dev/dsp
this sould make an ugly noise, but is pretty software independent (I.e. you=
=20
don't need a working player app)
