A regular PC has one controller, which has two channels. Each channel can
have two drives on it. That makes 4 drives in total.
hda/hdb are master/slave on the first channel.
hdc/hdd are master/slave on the second channel.
And since ThinkPads are regular PCs, they are the same :)
