That's certainly true.
The repair I need is covered by the warranty, so I can always send the
machine back to IBM for repair. I have spoken to one of IBM's local
repair shops who will not order the part unless I leave the machine with
them for a few days for testing prior to ordering the part. I use this
machine daily for my work, and prefer to minimize the down time.
Another local shop has not yet returned my call.
If I can give my business to a "Linux friendly" shop then I prefer to do
so. So far it sounds like my fastest turn-around time will be to ship
the box back to IBM...
