No no, definitely not interested in distro wars :-) 

Funny thing is that I have had similar experiences with Suse over 
the years that you have had with mandrake. Suse has never really 
installed well for me yet many people love it... just goes to show 
that every distro has its oddities. Good thing that there are so 
many of them for us to choose between - something for everyone!
