same here (Thinkpad R40)

The FN-Butten sends keycode 227, at least on my notebook. Here is the
xev - output:

KeyPress event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x4a00001,
    root 0x40, subw 0x0, time 235196324, (177,175), root:(870,591),
    state 0x0, keycode 227 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 characters:  ""
