Hi,
I have a problem with a new Thinkpad R51 running under SuSE 9.1 Linux. The
internal softmodem doesn´t work (I can ´ speak´ with the modem, but it doesn
´t dial). YAST is able to identify the modem and I can configure it (the
package smartlink-softmodems is installed)
First I tried kinternet, here is the logfile:
SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.16 on lapralf.
Status is: disconnected
trying to connect to smpppd

pppd[0] died: Connect script failed (exit code 8)
If I use kppp, I get the same result.
lspci says:
0000:00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 01)
(prog-if 00 [Generic])
Subsystem: IBM: Unknown device 055a
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
I/O ports at 2400
I/O ports at 2000 [size=128]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
The modem work in Windows, so I think there is no hardware or kabel-problem.
Has anybody a idea, what is to change or to check?
Many thanks.
