Hello,
I very recently purchased a thinkpad x40. I'm running Fedora Core 2 with
all the default acpi and cpuspeed settings. My computer occasional
"beeps" at what seems to be random times. I've disabled all of the
alarms in the bios, but the problem continues. I've done a "watch -d cat
/proc/cpuinfo" to see if the beeps occur when the cpu frequency changes.
But it doesn't appear to be the case. Has anyone else experienced this
problem? It's driving me nuts!
The beep seems to coincide with some hardrive activity (which istelf
does not appear to be triggered by anything in particular that I may be
doing on the computer).
The beep occurs even when the hardware mute of the soundcard is activated.
Any help would be appreciated.
Since I immediately squished my windows partition (anyone want to buy a
win xp pro license?) I do not know if the problem is linux specific.
Chris
