I guess those "sparkling" dots are not the same that's referred to as
"pixel fireworks" elsewhere (in contexts of video overlay on TFTs driven
by ATI boards)?
I found this link now, which has a lot of references in the R50p
section, that suggest that the problem was there on some machines while
on others it didn't occur...

Is there any pattern recognisable or some way to indicate if a machine
has the prob or if it doesn't?
