but here I got this well known message:

Forcing Rage Mobility/Rage 3D Pro LT mode
VBE call failed.
Maybe this command is not supported by your graphics adapter?
Did your parameters (if you specified some) really make sense?
Please try all other available commands before complaining!

Anyway, I had some success (if i can call it so :-). With my
current X config I'm occassionaly using external monitor. I
have lowered the resolution to 640x480 and have seen less
garbled picture, so next weekend I'll try to set resolution to
the same value the TV is running on (?704x552, PAL?)
If I'm lucky, I will be able to write modeline, which could
work with my TV (I have seen some pages with modelines, so
let's experiment a bit).
