The ipw2100 driver is decent if used without WEP.
But then, I don't care about WEP, and that is the better solution
security-wise. My laptop is protected by iptables itself, no incoming
services over the WLAN interface. At my home WLAN, I use IPsec --
i.e., fully able to supply security, not some half-broken protocol
like WEP. At public WLAN hot spots, I have either unencrypted public
traffic (my Web surfing) or ssh/IPsec-based access to my home network.
Cheers,
Joachim
