cs4232 driver, and you'll have to manually set the configuration with
sndconfig unless you like hand-editing /etc/modules.conf . :)
Easiest thing to do to set up the sound is write down the
settings (use PS2.EXE booted from a DOS partition or from a floppy disk).
You can then use sndconfig to set up the sound card. On my 600 (no E,
but the setup on an E I tried once was identical), I used:
o=0x530 irq=5 mpuirq=9 dma2=0 dma=1 mpuio=0x300
You may have to flip-flip the dma settings if sound doesn't work on the
first go round. Also, if sound STILL doesn't work, make sure "Quick Boot'
is DISabled under Easy Setup(hit F1 while you boot).

Maybe you hit it at a bad time?
This link works as of this morning, and will tell you about configuring
sound. Ignore the fact that it's for Red Hat 6 - just look at the stuff
about the sound card.
