[ltp] R40e modem & kernel 2.6

Anybody had any luck with the R40e Agere modem on kernel 2.6 ?

Had it working well with 2.4 kernel (using slmodem-2.9.2), but although slm=
odem (all versions, up to 2.9.7) compiles, installs and correctly identifie=
s the modem on kernel 2.6, I get the output below when loading the slamr mo=
dule, followed by slmodemd not being able to open the modem device.=20

Using Mandrake 10 with custom kernel 2.6.3

=46rom log:
slamr: module license 'Smart Link Ltd.' taints kernel.
slamr: SmartLink AMRMO modem.
slamr: probe 10b9:5457 SL1800 card...
slamr: mc97 codec is 0
slamr: cannot init card.

"modprobe slamr debug=3D3" gives a longer output if anybody out there can u=
nderstand it....

Have also tried the R40 agere driver pointed to from the IBM site - won't e=
ven compile.

Anybody got any ideas - determined to get it to work!
