I soved the principal issue a bit different on my dual boot.
First I do not want the Windows operating system to be able to affect the
operation of the Linux operating system or the inverse.
Next I want most data accesable from both systems.
Next I want to be able to reinstall Linux easely. I seem to crash Linux a lot
due to my playing. I do things that do not work that crash the system. This
would happen too with Windows except I hate Windows so much that weeks go by
without my switching to Windows except to run programs that are not available
under Linux.
Also I have found that there is some Linux data that I do not want available
to Windows. This is principally Linux programs that are not destributed with
one of the distributions.
So.
The machine is divided into 3 principal partitions.
In order:
Windows, Common_Data, Linux
Linux is also divided into
/boot, /, /home, /Linux_Data
On configuration boot is on first sector of HD.
Windows is Windows XP Professional with file type determined by MS.
Common_Data is Fat32
All of Linux is
Windows, Common_Data, and Linux do NOT have the same type file system.
