I just bought an inverter, which works fine in my car. There are some
models, designed for use with notebooks, that are a single piece that
plugs into the accessory socket, instead of a block on the end of a
cord, like the one I got.
Incidentally, my car (2002 Taurus) has both an accessory socket and a
lighter. According to the manual, I'm not supposed to use the lighter
outlet for anything else. I wonder what the difference is? Perhaps
fuse or circuit breaker rating?
