Hello all
I just subscribed to this list because I bought a T40 23738CG on ebay
last weekend. I also ordered a new HITACHI 60GB HD (7200 rpm Travelstar
7K60) to replace the 40 MEG HD that came with the computer.
I am currently trying to figure out just where the hd is on this model
(I figure that it is on side where the air vents which is the side
opposite to the CD drive).
On the back of the computer I see that there are four different types of
screws (numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4) each with a different length.
Judging by the little computer icon no. #3 type screw would appear to
hold the keyboard in place.
Do I have to take the keyboard off in order to change my HD?
Do I have to take the screen off in order to change my HD?
Looking at "http://tuxmobil.org/disassembly_laptop.html" I noticed that
one guy with another make of laptop had to take his screen in order to
change his hd... Scary thought.
As I basically know nothing - any help or ideas how one goes about
replacing the hd in a T40 would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
James
