[ltp] MPI350 and firmware 5.30.17 in airo module?

Does the airo module in kernel 2.6.8.1 work with the "new" (Linux compatible) 5.30.17 firmware for the Aironet 350 MiniPCI card, or do I have to stay with the 5.00.03 firmware (alternatively patch the kernel source)?
