FWIW, I know that at least two Ubuntu developers have ThinkPads (one a
T42, the other an X-series). The fellow with the T42 actually helped me
figure out what hardware to buy for my own for it to be maximally
Linux-compatible. He worked on the bootsplash doodad IIRC so that
should work under Ubuntu on the T-series pretty well. ;-)
