oh forgot to mention that I'm running in 16bit color depth
but results are like this:

5408 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1081.600 FPS
6032 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1206.400 FPS
6044 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1208.800 FPS
6041 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1208.200 FPS
6043 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1208.600 FPS
6041 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1208.200 FPS

another difference is that I use xorg
