[ltp] X40 battery controller

I was wondering where is the electronic logic in charge of the charge of
the battery in the X40. Is it in the battery or in the laptop?
I own both a 4-cell and an 8-cell battery and basically would like to
know if frequently switching from one to the other is a bad thing or
not.
