ATI's cards have very bad linux drivers. Nvidia has much bad drivers
for linux. So, if you care about 3d acceleration try to get a laptop
with Nvidia cards.
IBM Laptops (T42p is my recommendation) are the best but
unfortunately they have ATI's drivers.
Regarding wireless: Intel's IPW 2200 is working great for me with the
drivers from ipw2200.sf.net .
Multihead and Xinerama are supported but you can't switch from one to
another on the fly without restarting X server - which makes it pretty
useless for me. This is the limitation of the current state of art of
X implementation. There are ways to get around to it (see archives of
this mailing list) - but they are rather painful. and again - ATI's
drivers don't support it as well as Nvidia's drivers.
