I replaced the original Intel mini-pci with the above mentionned part (atheros c
hip).
Works very well in my T40 (with WEP):

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/madwifi update madwifi
export COPTS=-DSOFTLED
cd madwifi; make; make install

and hotplug takes care of the rest.

I update once a week since development is very active thanks to Sam Leffler.
