[ltp] DVD cpu usage

Hi,
I reinstalled debian into my T40, this time using the Debian-installer (my
first install was from Knoppix). The only problem was a first try with the
2.4 kernel option: I ended up with a scrambled display; no problem with 2.6,
don't know why. Besides that, everything worked fine.
I am pretty happy with my new system, but I noticed that now playing DVDs
takes >50% of cpu usage, up to 70% with Kaffeine/xine (it used to be ~10%).
Now I cannot watch movies when in battery power.
Anybody can give me a clue about this? I have tried mplayer, vlc and xine. I
use the same XFree configuration that I used previously, XFree radeon module
(the system has a radeon 7500, and 3d graphics are ok), and a home-compiled
kernel (with exactly the same options that I used in my old setting). If it
helps I can post config files.
Thanks a lot,
Joan
