I'm not sure but the Ubuntu's (not VectorLinux's) installer reports
"Intel Corporation Intel (wireless)". I don't know what's "AP" :p

By the way. I also tried to install on my system and I've still no
luck. I bought my ThinkPad R51because someone on the Ubuntu mailing
list told me that Ubuntu detects all of the hardware components of R51
falwlessly.
