Depending on which model of TP, there may be downloadable "hardware 
maintenance guide" from IBM upport website.  It may help at least not to 
break further stuffs.   Maybe you can also try to spray some contact 
cleaner e.g. 3M on the spilled point (supposedly driving away the water, 
if not for milk or cream).  Exercise caution, because too much may also 
damage other components e.g. LCD.
