Using Xorg 6.8.2 on Debian SID and without starting any fake xserver
after resume, I cannot see any difference in power consumption on my
T40p here. fgl_glxgears doesn't make any trouble either.
Maybe you want to give X.org a try..

But there is something different annoying: since we cannot use radeonfb
any more with fglrx, the problem with the High Power drain while in S3
(increased from 600mW to about 3.5W) is back again :-(
