Hi all,

I am running kernel 2.6.11.7 with latest acpi patch (20050309) and the
suspend2 version 2.1.8.2 patches and the radeonfb "Anti suspend2ram
Powerdrain" patches.

I have got the following problem:
If I start xorg (version Ubuntu 6.8.2-10 20050405154308) with enabled
dri, the processor never enters C3 processor power state, there is
always bus activity, if I am on VT7 (X is running).

But If I switch to a text konsole, while X is still running, C3 state
can be entered.

If I disable dri, C3 state works, cpu uses this state very often and
there is no bus activity even on Vt7 (X is running).

The same, as I am on battery or an AC

My Hardware is Thinkpad R40 2722-B3G with a Radeon 7500 Mobility.

I use a radeonfb in console, here the part of my xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
        Identifier "Ati Radeon 7500"
        Driver "radeon"
	Option "DisplayPriority" "BIOS"
        Option "AGPMode" "4"
        Option "AGPFastWrite" "on"
        Option "DynamicClocks" "true"
	Option "EnablePageFlip" "true"
        Option "RenderAccel" "true"
        BusID "PCI:1:00:0"
EndSection

Section "Module"
# Load "dri" #works with C3 state

EndSection

Is this a known issue? Are there some workarounds? xorg or kernel issue?
I cc the ubuntu xorg developers.

thx in advance

Peter
