Finally someone with X40.questions.
I own a X40 since half a year back now, somewhat. I have 5 friends that
own one aswell, all running different flavors of Linux.
How have we installed our laptops?
With all kinds of different methods, really, you name it and we have
done it. But the most common is by using a USB-CDROM. Else we have used
a USB-Memorystick, USB-Mp3player(kinda the same thing afterall),
PXE-Booted them, debootstrapped them. All of these things are easy to
do, not so much fuss with it really. I probably had the hardest time
with my X40 since it refused to boot of our PXE-boot nor would it accept
any USB-memorystick at all. I had to solve it with a debootstrap until I
could borrow a USB-CD to use.
I am just on my way to purchase a 5.25"-case for my DVD-burner so I can
get myself a burner to the X40 when I want it and so on and preferably
also be able to find some plastic so I can mount a 3.5"-disk in it,
floppy, harddrive, whatever.
Anyhow, in general the X40 is by far the best thing i've ever bought,
it's so small and It's perfect. I'd say buy it, get yerself a 5.25"-case
and enjoy it to the fullest.
