[ltp] Preferred distro for Thinkpads?

I use Gentoo, for a variety of reasons.  First off, I like the idea of 
optimizing my system, even if it means a couple days compile time to get 
everything configured (R50p).  Second, while there may not be packages for 
everything I need, 99% of the drivers and so forth have ebuids, and creating 
a simple ebuild is not that hard.  Plus, if you ever have to compile 
something by hand, it's not like it's a big difference to the rest of the 
system :)

Plus, it has a good dependancy system similar to (but different from) Debian, 
which lets me keep things in good working order...
