If you are comfortable with FC4 and it works fine to you, don't change it,
keep using FC on your thinkpad to. If you want to experiment new things,
go on and try Ubuntu, Debian, SuSE, Mandriva, Gentoo, Slackware... Don't
change distribution only because you think it will work better with the
thinkpad, you can do more with your knowledge than any distro with
hardware detection ;)
Me, I had Mandrake 10.1 on my workstation, and that was what I installed
on my R51. Everything went fine and I knew exactly how to tweak what I
didn't like... and I could just copy configuration files between both
computers. Now I've upgraded to LE2005 and it works even better.
