[ltp] Preferred distro for Thinkpads?

Please share your experience with Gentoo.  I've never used it but have heard
that it's a very nice distro.  How long did it take to install and compile
everything?

How did you get it on your drive?  Did you wipe windows completely and start
from scratch or did you use partition magic to resize your windows partition
to make room and setup a dual boot?  If you resized your windows partition,
how did you do it?  I'm unable to gain exclusive access to the drive even
after disabling the security chip as well as the predesktop area, so any
pointers you could offer would be fantastic.
