[ltp] T20 keeps saying it's ok to remove DVD

Not directly Linux-related, but Thinkpad-related...

I gave my old T20 to a friend earlier this year, and put Windows on it for her
(she had no interest in learning Linux). Lately, Windows has been spontaneously
notifying her that it's safe to remove the DVD drive.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is it some kind of hardware failure in the
drive or drive bay? Possible software problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.
