[ltp] irda for an x40

Hi.
I would to use the infrared port of my x40.
some pages I've read suggest me that "no connection could be
established to remote devices. This was confirmed by Paul Ortyl. So, I
would conclude, IRDA is not working"

I've read the thinkwiki, but I've not understood what exactly I've to
do in order to use my irda port (checking the kernel support, needed
tools, config); my main purpose is to communicate with a palm Vx and a
nokia mobile phone.

Can someone help me or suggest an exhaustive page?
