Hi,
My config is T42 dual-booting XP & FC3. I used to create a FAT32 partn
for exchange data between MS & Linux back in RH 7.3 (mounting the XP
native NTFS for read/write was not considered reliable enough that time).
Below is the output of Linux fdisk print:
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
240 heads, 63 sectors/track, 10337 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 15120 * 512 = 7741440 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 4172 31540288+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 4173 9661 41496840 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda3 9707 10337 4770360 12 Compaq diagnostics
/dev/hda5 4173 6204 15361888+ b W95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda6 6205 8236 15361888+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda7 8237 9591 10233373+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda8 9592 9661 529168+ 82 Linux swap
When I "mount -t vfat /dev/hda5 /vfat_hda5", but then "ls -l
/vfat_hda5" actually showed the content of /dev/hda6 i.e. my NTFS
partn!!!!! So I thought might be fdisk was reporting the wrong partn
no, but then trying all other hdaN didn't help.
Hda5 & hda6 are in the same "Logical" partn (hda2) created by PartnMagic
8.0, whereas I managed to preserver the IBM RescueRecovery partn (hda3)
at the ending cylinders of the 80GB drive.
Any clues? F
Thanks and a Progressive Chinese New Year to you all!
