As you use the term 'cards' I wonder if you mean a PCMCIA card? I just
got a 2 port USB 2 PCMCIA card that used the NEC chip, and it seems to
work fine. I'll admit I haven't tried it with my external burner yet,
but it worked with a 2.5" USB external drive enclosure last night.
