I can't use fglrx, because I have a Radeon 7500, but I've read about the
problems with x.org > 6.8.0. The Solution was to downgrade to 6.7.X.
Maybe you should try the newest fglrx 8.10.19 driver from ati.com

btw. why do you use 6.8.0-rc4, the 6.8.1 fixes several problems.
