No, no extras. And I really stopped all possible services and 
peripherals. No CD's spinning, no WiFi, no bluetooth, etc.

One thing I notice is that as soon as I start X, the CPU speed jumps 
at its maximum (1700 in my case). When I only use consoles, the CPU 
runs at 600Mhz, due the cpudyn I'm running.
