Dear All,
There seems to be quite a few problems with fan on/off and thinkpads. In my
experience, the only kernels able to _stop_ the fan once on are those of SuSE
9.2 (I do not know why: mandrake 9.2, yoper 2.2 etc do not stop the fan).
You can also fine tune the trip points of the fan by fiddling
with /proc/acpi/thermal/THMx/trip_points, e.g. for a 600E:
echo '63:0:0:45:0' >/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM2/trip_points
(at your own risk)
Good luck
Damien
