It's not that easy. IBM has a whitelist of allowed adapters that  they 
have tested. In other words, you can only put in whatever IBM allows. 
They created this list for FCC regulations.

Yes there is a workaround. :)
but still you should contact IBM about this.

I have followed the IPW project and do recomend those adapters. FYI the 
Intel 2915ABG is alrady in the market. ie www.4sure.com
