Also FWIW, on a t41p, I had to add acpi_sleep=s3_bios to the kernel
arguments in order to get suspend-to-RAM to resume properly under
2.6.10 ACPI.  Without that argument, the screen would remain blank.
(One of the thinkpad sites suggested that this argument might help.)
