[ltp] T41, cdrom, 2nd hard drive in ultra bay

I have a T41 that is about 15 months old and it has served me well.

I have a second hard drive that I use in the ultrabay carrier, and it replaces 
the dvd/cdrw in the ultrabay.  I have so far used it by booting with the 
device I wish to use in the bay, and my Mandrake install has been able to 
detect which device is installed and mount it appropriately.  What I would 
really like to do however, is to be able to hot swap the drives like Windows 
can.  Is anybody doing this?  Has anybody run across any info on this topic.  
I am googling, but I thought the awesome power of the experience on this list 
would be helpful.  TIA.
