[ltp] some issues with R50e

Hello List,
I recently bought a R50e to replace my old Thinkpad i1200, and I'm quite
pleased how well it works with Debian. I still have some problems though that
I hope someone can help me with. I didn't find way of searching the mailing
list.

1. The laptop has a 1.3 Ghz Centrino. I would like to use cpufreq or the
speedstep kernel funcitons, but they don't seem to be supported. I compiled
kernel 2.6.10 with the options "Intel Enhanced SpeedStep" and also "Intel
Speedstep ICH-M chipsets" as modules, but upon loading they both say that the
device does not exist. Even though the cpufreq option is enabled, I have no
"fil" in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0. I can use throttling
via /proc/acpi/processor though.

2. I seem to have a Intel 855GM graphic card and wanted to try the new
framebuffer driver that came with kernel 2.6.10 (intelfb), but dmesg gives me
this:
intelfb: Framebuffer driver for Intel(R) 830M/845G/852GM/855GM/865G chipsets
Jan 5 17:17:16 localhost kernel: intelfb: Version 0.9.2
Jan 5 17:17:16 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:02.0[A] -> GSI
11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11
Jan 5 17:17:16 localhost kernel: intelfb: Cannot reserve FB region.
Does anyone have success with this driver?

3. On the keyboard, above the "left-arrow" and "right-arrow" key are some
extra buttons which probably symbolise "page next/prev". Are they usuable at
all? Maybe with xmodmap?

4. Since there is no Windows-key on the keyboard that could be used for some
nice hotkeys, is it possible to use map the Fn key?

5. ACPI "Suspend to RAM" never return. All I can see on the screen is
"Stopping tasks" and a complete progress bar, obviously indicating that it
successfully stopped everything. Then the only thing I can do is to restart.

Thanks for all your help,
Mo
