Hello Peter,
thank you for trying to help.

I already replied twicw to roby but stragely the reply does not show up 
in the list ...

I run a 2.6.10 kernel and burning has always been ok.

The strange thing (I would almost call it a k3b bug) is that K3b refused 
to "find" cdrecord until I have removed the root SUID bit from the 
executable.
