[ltp] apm on R50 with 2.6.9 kernel

hi list:

I am using Debian Sarge with kernel 2.6.9 stock kernel on my R50. just
recently i switched from acpi to apm and some annoyance really urged me to
write to the list.

My laptop will blank the screen if 5min idle time is detected and suspend
to ram after another 5 min of idle time, i have tried to change such
behaviour through kde power management in kde as well as through BIOS,
neither has, as far as i can tell, solved the problem, can any one else
give me a hand?
