Sorry about that, they are too paranoid sometimes but still manage to
let tons of spam through. It's a free service, so I can't complain too
much...

Yes, that's what it does on almost all ThinkPads. I'm afraid I don't
know a way to programmatically control LCD brightness on the T40.
