[ltp] ndiswrapper problem with a Linksys WPC54GS

I'm trying to set up a Linksys WPC54GS in a Thinkpad T20 running a fresh 
install of Slackware-current.

ndiswrapper-0.12 compiled cleanly.  According to the lspci -n I downloaded the 
correct driver for my hardware.  ndiswrapper -i <inf file> worked with no 
errors.  Same with ndiswrapper -m.  when I modprobe ndiswrapper, I get this 
in /var/log/messages
